Creative Year Ahead

Happy New Year! I wish you all a beautiful and creative year, filled with joy and all the wonderful things life has to offer.

At the moment, I’m in the Netherlands with my boyfriend, Samuel. We celebrated Christmas and New Year’s Eve with friends and family—it was such a cozy and special time. I hope you had lovely holidays too!

For the spontaneous planners among you: the exhibition Liquid Color – Solid Movement is still open until this Saturday at Museum Maassluis, NL. The museum is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. It’s an amazing glass exhibition, and I’m honored to be part of it. Highly recommended!

In Denmark, I work part-time blowing glass for Studio Arhoj, which is great and provides some stability. However, November was quite a busy month with lots of traveling. I spent the last week of the month on Bornholm, the island where my Danish adventures began. It was so nice to revisit the town of Nexø! While I was there, I helped a friend prepare for her Christmas market.

It’s always exciting to get to know a new studio, but this one was particularly fascinating because they use recycled glass from Novo Nordisk, a pharmaceutical company and Denmark’s largest corporation. This borosilicate glass has completely different properties than the silica-based studio glass I’m used to. It becomes liquid at higher temperatures but cools down much faster, which means you have less working time and need to adjust your techniques. One big advantage is that this glass can cool down in just a few hours, compared to studio glass, which takes at least 15 hours to anneal.

Earlier in November, I spent a week and a half in Ebeltoft, where I assisted two glassblowers, Aoife and Pia. I also rented the studio of the glass museum—my old workplace—for three days to create products for a Christmas market with my talented assistant, Samuel :D. Setting up our booth was a fun challenge. It was incredibly motivating to see what people were excited about. At the same time, it felt very personal because people were sharing their opinions about something I had created—something that’s a part of me.

In February, I’ll be attending another market, but this time with a fellow glassblower instead of Samuel. Exciting times ahead!

One more little update: if you’ve been eyeing one of my artworks, let me know! On January 8th, I’ll take everything back to Denmark, and the prices will go up after that. But of course, you’re welcome to purchase it now at the current price. 😊
