About me

My glass adventure began in the Netherlands in 2021. Now, I live and work in Copenhagen as a glassblower.

I find glass to be challenging, with characteristics that you cannot find in any other material. Hard, cold, and transparent, but when you heat it up, it becomes soft and fluid.

When I blow glass, I use a furnace that is constantly at around 1130 degrees Celsius. In this furnace, there is a pot of molten glass. At this temperature the glass is as fluid and soft as honey. As it cools down, it becomes gradually stiffer and less moveable. Each temperature has its advantages and disadvantages. While working you can reheat the glass in a special oven, but never back to the initial temperature.

Therefore is always a game with the heat, a game that never gets boring.

Glass Expressions: From Museum Maassluis to Copenhagen

Samuel and I were in the Netherlands for the opening of the glass art exhibition at Museum Maassluis. Eight artists from Glasz Art Professionals and four artists from Maassluis (including me) are showcasing their expressive glass pieces. I’m now back in Copenhagen, where I work at Studio Arhoj and Copenhagenglass.

New jobs, new challenges

After my move to the inner city of Copenhagen, I have been busy with my new job at Copenhagenglass, and I am also a part-time tour guide nowadays. This spring, I participated in the art route in Maassluis, and I even sold two new pieces. Besides my work, I am learning Danish, which is an exciting challenge. Don't miss it: in September, we will open a special exhibition at Museum Maassluis, where my work, along with that of other glass artists, will be on display until the end of the year.
